GSK ha celebrado su “Semana del Voluntariado” con varias actividades en aras de fomentar las acciones solidarias entre sus empleados para que continúen dedicando su tiempo y su experiencia a crear un cambio positivo en nuestra sociedad. En este marco ha tenido lugar la celebración del “1er Día de la Solidaridad”, donde empleados participantes en alguno de los programas de voluntariado de la Compañía, han actuado como embajadores para contar sus experiencias al resto de sus compañeros. Además, representantes de ONGs han apoyado el evento participando de forma activa explicando las colaboraciones que llevan a cabo con GSK.
Para Andrés Conde, director general de Save the Children, “La alianza de GSK con Save the Children tiene como objetivo inmunizar a un millón de niños que viven en los contextos más empobrecidos. Nuestras dos organizaciones trabajan juntas de una forma innovadora, compartiendo experiencia, conocimiento y recursos para hacer frente a algunas de las causas más importantes de la mortalidad infantil”.
PULSE, Orange Day y el Programa Barretstown, programas insignia de voluntariado en GSK
Barretstown es un programa de ayuda a niños y jóvenes con enfermedades graves puesto en marcha por el actor Paul Newman, en la localidad irlandesa del mismo nombre, y con el que la Compañía lleva más de 10 años colaborando económicamente. Este proyecto ha permitido que niños de 22 países de Europa y América hayan disfrutado de una estancia en sus campamentos de verano, en los que en 2014 participaron 113 niños españoles procedentes de 15 hospitales. Debido al gran apoyo que el proyecto Barretstown tiene en nuestro país, se ha establecido una oficina en Madrid para coordinar mejor los esfuerzos de compañías como GSK.
GSK ofrece un día libre al año para realizar actividades de voluntariado, el Orange Day. En este programa son los propios empleados quienes proponen las actividades de voluntariado. Desde su puesta en marcha en 2009, más de 1.000 empleados han participado en España en programas medioambientales, de integración social y deportivos.
La participación en el programa Pulse supone una gran experiencia para los empleados de GSK, ya que tienen la oportunidad de aplicar sus conocimientos profesionales y los valores de la Compañía en la ayuda directa a las comunidades más desfavorecidas. Los voluntarios pasan entre 3 y 6 meses en destinos nacionales e internacionales en los que se unen a proyectos específicos liderados por distintas ONGs. Desde el lanzamiento del programa en 2009 han participado 486 empleados de GSK de todo el mundo, quienes han desarrollado su labor de voluntariado en 94 entidades sin ánimo de lucro de 61 países. España ha aportado 11 voluntarios a este programa internacional.
En el evento se han presentado los programas Pulse Local y 10/80 que consisten en, el primero de ellos, implementar a nivel nacional el programa PULSE de 3 meses de duración y el segundo, en llevar a cabo proyectos de voluntariado de 10 a 80 horas de duración, en los que el empleado pone sus capacidades profesionales al servicio de una ONG. Estos proyectos pueden ser desarrollarlos de manera virtual o presencial compatibilizándolo con la jornada laboral, en función de las necesidades del proyecto.
Según Marcelino Pérez, director de Special Olympics Madrid, “Los programas Pulse y 10/80 ofrecen la posibilidad a las entidades no lucrativas de mejorar su eficacia y eficiencia al contar con el apoyo de grandes profesionales, que nos ayudan a implementar más y mejores proyectos”. Por su parte, Darlyn D´oleo e Isabel Ramos de Fundación Madrina, comentaron que “la fundación apoya la infancia directamente a través del soporte a las madres, muchas de ellas adolescentes, integrándolas en programas de formación a través de un Campus de Madres, así como capacitación para empleo y emprendimiento a través del Programa E+E+100 Emprendedoras Diamante. Las necesidades básicas de estas jóvenes familias con niños en situación de marginalidad y pobreza, se cubren a través de residencias y pisos de acogida, ayuda sanitaria especializada –ginecológica y puericultura-; y se pone a su disposición un banco farmacéutico y banco del bebé, con material de higiene y alimentación infantil. También se desarrollan actividades corporativas a través de Operaciones Patuco, Canastilla Solidaria y Fiestas de Bienvenidos al Mundo o Su Futuro sobre Ruedas, que pretenden cubrir sus necesidades y donde GSK es de gran ayuda”.
Además, durante toda la semana ha estado en marcha la “Operación Kilo de GSK España” de la mano de la ONG Banco de Alimentos.
